Thornbury House is a sustainable townhouse developed by Neometro. It features robust and timeless natural materials, including exposed white painted bricks, polished concrete floors and timber-framed windows and doors. The brief from homeowners Zach and Tayla was to introduce pieces that would have longevity, eschewing trends in favour of a refined and timeless aesthetic. The existing materials palette helped to inform design decisions, with pieces chosen to complement these finishes and overlay the space with colour, warmth and personality.

The statement terracotta tiles that form a backdrop to the living space informed the chosen colour palette with calming blue tones introduced to balance the warmth of the tiles. A combination of materials, including timber, leather, steel, chrome and wool, were introduced to add interest and tactility to the space whilst complementing the existing finishes. The chrome details tie in with the chrome fittings in the kitchen whilst introducing a hard, reflective surface to the otherwise grounded colour palette.

The curated selection of furniture and decor for the open-plan living and dining room includes a striking Joshua De Gruchy painting, vintage Spoleto chairs from Italy, the iconic Akari lamp, and the timeless Vitsoe shelving system, showcasing Zach and Tayla's collection of art, ceramics, books and vinyl records. This thoughtful curation brings warmth and character to the space, creating a welcoming and cohesive home.
